Wandr is a walking tour app that narrates your surroundings as you walk. We use your location to find nearby points of interest and generate audio narration using AI. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Data We Collect
Location data: We use your GPS location while you walk to find nearby points of interest and trigger narration. Your location is sent to our servers to search for places and generate relevant content. We do not store your real-time GPS coordinates beyond the duration of your walk session.
Walk session data: When you complete a walk, we record: the date and duration, which points of interest you visited, your city, walk type, and any feedback or ratings you provide. This helps us improve the experience.
Device identifier: We generate a random anonymous identifier stored on your device to associate your walks and preferences. This is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information unless you create an account.
Taste preferences: During onboarding, you answer questions about your interests and narration style preferences. These are stored on your device and sent with each narration request so we can personalise content to your taste.
Microphone (optional): If you choose to ask follow-up questions by voice, we access your microphone to capture your speech. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored.

AI-Generated Content
Narration is generated by AI (Anthropic Claude) based on publicly available information about places. While we take steps to ensure accuracy, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies. Narration is intended for entertainment and should not be relied upon as factual reference.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide the app:
Google Places API — to search for points of interest and locations
Google Directions API — to calculate walking routes
Anthropic (Claude) — to generate narration text
ElevenLabs — to convert narration to speech audio
Supabase — to store walk sessions, preferences, and analytics
Mapbox — to display maps and determine your city
Vercel — to host the app and API
Each service has its own privacy policy. We send the minimum data necessary to each service to provide the app's functionality.
Data Storage and Security
Your preferences are stored locally on your device. Walk session data and analytics are stored in Supabase (hosted in the EU). We use HTTPS for all data transmission. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Your Rights
You can:
Reset all your local data using the "Reset everything" button in Settings
Request deletion of your server-side data by contacting us
Deny location or microphone permissions at any time through your device settings
Children
Wandr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
